Miss Candy

Here in the Pure Religion Program we are extending a very warm welcome to our newest beneficiary Ms. Candy. Ms. Candy is a widow of 15 years. She has a son, but he has completely abandoned her and absolutely no other living family, so lives alone in her little hut with the pigs she raises for a living (as seen above and below in her photos).

She has a humble mud floor in her home, a small bundle of kindling in the corner for making fires to cook on, a big smile on her cute little face and a strange but lovely little ball of firey attitude about her. Candy seems content and determined to survive with the love and care of only her neighbors who look our for her when she is sick, but we are excited to also extend our hand to her.

We love you already, Ms. Candy and we know you will feel good here with us learning about how much God loves you and and taking home your rice and bean provisions weekly :)

WELCOME!!

EVEN APPLES SPEAK OF HIS GOODNESS!

March 8th, 2012 was the day that many of us here at The Infantil Tary Kids Program ate our first apple. If it wasn’t our first it was certainly one of very few. The bible says that the fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

This day I felt love in my life, because you loved me enough to buy me an apple. Apples here in Nicaragua only the RICH get to eat, so I felt on top of the world.

This day I felt joy as the nutrients and vitamins of something so delicious went pulsing through my body, I was probably very hungry since most of our moms send us to school hungry.

I felt your kindness and a special peace in my heart knowing that someone really is looking out for me, and for my health and my development and has not left me behind for the world to throw me down with its punches of cruelty that catch so many of our families that suffer from extreme cases of poverty.

The faithfulness that is in your hearts gives us the strength to go on in life. Its weird how even an apple speaks of His goodness, but it does, and through this little act of goodness a mini-project has been inspired by our friend Jesyka Summers who was here 2 weeks ago and gave us this lovely treat.

It is called “An Apple A Day Speaks”, and we hope that some of you will join us in this; its a very easy way to make a difference.

An apple here in Nicaragua costs 1$-1.50 each. To give our 13 kids a special treat every once in a while we would need 1 person per month to donate $15-$20. If you would like to be one of these people please contact us at taragermain80@gmail.com and in the subject line write “An Apple a Day Speaks”.

Below is a little good-bye note Jesyka left us the morning she went to catch the plane. We didn’t get to say goodbye to her, but we love her and miss her and are thankful for the time and the smile she gave us each and every morning.

A few of us thought we might also send her a “goodbye” note and a picture of us with some art work we did. These cotton ball angels were also inspired by her so we thought the photo would be fitting.

BYE JES, we love you :)

WARRIORS OF JUSTICE – DESTROYING ALL EVIL!!

OUR KIDS WILL LEARN LIKE DAVID TO SING TO THIER KING AT THE DELIVERANCE FROM THIER ENEMIES…. AND DESTROY MORAL AND SPIRITUAL SLAVERY; REBUILDING FUTURE HOMES FULL OF FAITH, LOVE AND HOPE FOUNDED IN GOD.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE BLUE ON THIER UNIFORMS HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM THE BOOK OF EXODUS (CH. 28) IN THE OLD TESTAMENT; THE HOLY GARMENTS OF AARON AND THE PRIESTS WERE MADE OF BLUE AND VIVID COLORS REPRESENTING THIER CONSECRATION TO THE PRIESTHOOOD AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD WHO IS PRESENT IN THE MIDST OF HIS PEOPLE.

FOR YOU ARE MY LAMP, O LORD; THE LORD SHALL ENLIGHTEN MY DARKNESS.

FOR BY YOU I CAN RUN AGAINST A TROOP; BY MY GOD I CAN LEAP OVER A WALL

AS FOR GOD, HIS WAY IS PERFECT; THE WORD OF THE LORD IS PROVEN; HE IS A SHIELD TO ALL WHO TRUST IN HIM.

FOR WHO IS GOD, EXCEPT THE LORD? AND WHO IS A ROCK, EXCEPT OUR GOD?

GOD IS MY STRENGTH AND POWER, AND HE MAKES MY WAY PERFECT.

HE MAKES MY FEET LIKE THE FEET OF DEER, AND SETS ME ON MY HIGH PLACES

HE TEACHES MY HANDS TO MAKE WAR SO THAT MY ARMS CAN BEND A BOW OF BRONZE

YOU HAVE ALSO GIVEN ME THE SHIELD OF YOUR SALVATION; YOUR GENTLENESS HAS MADE ME GREAT

YOU ENLARGED MY PATH UNDER ME; SO MY FEET DID NOT SLIP. 2 SAMUEL 22:29-37

PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR KIDS TO BE BRAVE AND FOR STRENGTH TO BREAK THROUGH AND OUT OF THE DESTRUCTIVE PATTERNS OF ALCOHALISM, ABUSE AND POVERTY FOUND IN THIER HOMES.

A SOLID ANNUAL PLAN OF ACTION

Here is a quick glimpse of our work this week. A solid annual plan of action is vital in running a tight ship and if any of you know me, well I like my ducks in a row. SOOO, poor Alex and Byanca (our new teacher) have been head down, butt up for the past week brainstorming and bringing to the table an entire years worth of bible lessons, arts, crafts, and drama’s etc. They are doing a VERY good job. Please pray for inspiration as the entire week of Feb.6th to the 10th we will be doing the same!

I, Tara, have been glued to the chair in my office typing and getting all the administration aspects of this wonderful program in order and I am glad to say that we now have all internal documents complete: including staff and child files, rules and regulations, program projection, offical vision and mission statements complete with yearly and specific objectives, child permission slips, child sent home “bad” slips etc. Haha. I have a little to go, but I am on the upswing of it now.

And Most Importantly, The families we are serving and a glimpse of thier homes…. May God give us the strength and wisdom in bringing them to the feet of Jesus and helping to change thier lives for the good!

If you want to be a part of this program, helping these children it is easy. Contact us at taragermain80@gmail.com and be blessed while being a part of something outside of yourself!

Year 2012Kick-Off!

ROCKIN’ IN THE FREE WORLD

First off, please help in welcoming us back from never never land where we lost track of time and every other worry in the world for nearly 3 weeks with my parents in paradise. It couldn’t have possibly been a better or more blessed time and we are now “back in black” as the saying would go, refreshed and ready to go full steam ahead. Wait a minute, we have been in this new routine for nearly 2 weeks now… full steam ahead, and I am still finding that about 6pm I am ready to go full steam ahead ….. to MY BED!!

Each and every one of you who have been a part of our life, ministry, journey, failures and successes throughout the year of 2010 have a card awaiting you that my mom will be kindly delivering or putting in the mail. The cards are all handmade by the children and staff of Infantil Tary Kids Program and inside you will find a personal note from one of the kids (or drawing for those of them too small to write), a group photo of 2010’s class, a family picture and a personal note from us as a family. Alex wrote them all this year, as I did in 2009 and so they are in SPANISH and part of the fun is that you will figure out how to translate them into English before being able to read it. Hint… it’s not hard, many programs have a translate button, so just type it in… and whala! (How do you spell whala?!

BACK TO REALITY!!

Now to the administration parts of my “job”, please receive them graciously as they are my least favourite. The year 2011 has left us and 2012 has joined us. That means my friends that the time has arrived for anyone wanting to renew their commitments to our projects to now do so. If you were unable to donate to any one of these causes last year, but would like to start the year out right by being a part of something outside of yourself and making a world of difference in someone else’s, the following are the options of ministry that we need your donations and help to run;

1. The Bridges of Zarephath Program – we have at least 3 families awaiting a foster family from Canada

2. Infantil Tary Childrens Program – Big expenses hit for this program this time of year, and is the program most in need of funding at this time – Immediate need being $1000-$1500 to buy approx. 30 school uniforms, pairs of shoes and school supplies and backpacks for kids in need – If you want to bite off this chunk of the pie, please respond to this post right away as these purchases are pressing and need to be in by the start of the school year the first week of Feb. Given the case a donation is not received specifically for this project we will be unable to fulfill the vision

3. The Pure Religion Program – Helping the VERY poor in their distress with food provisions and medicine. This program is very well funded at this moment

Or,

4. Family living expenses – Jump on board to help us be here in Nicaragua doing this work. As a family we continue to pray for a miracle in regards to $9,000 we will need to complete Molly’s adoption this year and be able to visit Canada as a FAMILY!

Donations can be sent to:
The Shelter
Box 6124
Fort St. John, BC
V1J 4H6

This is our home church in Canada and they are responsible for all the funds that come our way and are very responsible in making sure they get to us and are able to issue you a tax receipt at the end of the year for any substantial amounts given. PLEASE though, make sure the donation is CLEARLY EARMARKED for whatever cause you would like it to go to!!

There are also other ways to transfer the funds i.e. – online transfers etc, that make it easier for some people, and if you prefer this option it is no problem either. Please keep in mind that anything you are able to do is something. Even the smallest amounts of commitment or sponsorship help and can go along way here in a third world country. We bless each and every one who have given over this past year and await only God’s purest gifts of peace, love and joy in your homes and in the homes of those dear to your heart. We love you all lots,

Please be sure to keep winnicaragua.com up on your browser regularly to see new photos, information and news as I am able to post it. Again, the site is not 100% complete, but I will be working on that where time is permitted as well and am so grateful for wpcomputer solutions that have donated thier time in making the page for us.

Chow for now, The Casco Family.

My mom used to Wash My Mouth out when I said a Bad Word

Fasting? Seriously? I’ll take a big mac, thanks.

Fasting has gone out of the window these days for most. But it shouldn’t have.

When Jesus was questioned about fasting he replied, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. “No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment: for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. “Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved”.Matt 9:15-17

Real growth in kingdom righteousness is like when new wine is put in fresh wineskins. We are one month away from starting a new year in our Infantil Tary Kids Program and it is the heart’s desire of Alex and I that as directors of this kingdom work we are refreshed, washed and ready to break path in the lives of the kids who God entrusts to us.

The fear of the Lord is something that has gone out of the window for many people as well, but shouldn’t have. The author of the book of Hebrews speaks of it being a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. This is the verse the Lord showed me a few days ago when speaking to me about being prepared for this years ministry. It is found in Malachi 3:2-4,

But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.

Alex and I are on day 4 of a 7 day fast that we have commited to the Lord. When I was a child my mom used to wash my mouth out with soap when I said a bad word. Although I may not need my mouth washed out with soap anymore (although my words still do get a little colorful when I fight with my husband, and I need His help with that) I do need His cleansing and refining in my life.

We strive that the testimony of our lives and the work we do here in Nicaragua are pure and without blemish as we stand before the world as His light. I wrote this blog to invite any one of you who have been or still are a part of this journey with us to please join in fasting this week, Thursday/Friday or Saturday, if you are able, that we may receive new wine in our wineskins this coming year and that we may be made complete in His righteousness, ready and able to do His will. We are all in this together!

Love Tara

Baby Clothes on the Bus and an Attempted Suicide

Donations help kids receive back packs of school supplies.

Yesterday, we mounted the bus to go to a nearby city to celebrate 2 years of marriage and were greeted by a sweet newborn baby and its’ mother who, ironically enough, had no idea that because of a generous heart from Canada her little one was clothed in the white toque and purple outfit that snugly warmed my heart as I looked on. That was a nice way to start my already blessed day, seeing the Lords hands and feet at work in the clothes that were keeping the babe-in-arms protected and covered from the wind as the bus whistled down the road.

Kids heading off to school.

Today, I woke up and was shortly thereafter annoyed at my husband (just so you know we continue to be just as human as you) and once I got over it began to clean my house. A knock at the door and it’s a young girl from this past year’s Infantil Tary Program. She comes to visit often, and the tears start to fall from her face before I even have the door open. I have extended many a hug to this particular young lady since knowing her and I ask, “What happened?” Through the sobs and holding her stomach she tells me, “I got into a fight with my mom this morning and took pills”. “When did you take them?” I asked her, keeping my cool. “How many… does your stomach hurt?” “Yes, it feels like it is burning, I already vomited once” she said. Off to the hospital we go, I got home about one hour ago.

Two different days, with two totally different rhythms. Since the time of year has come around where many of you, being families or single people make year end contributions to numerous causes around the world, or consider new Christmas traditions and gift giving ideas, we would like to appeal you to please, please consider our Infantil Tary Kids Program as one of your options this year.

Kids in School Uniforms

Through your contribution you may not be able to mount a bus and see the clothes you donated being worn by a small baby, or the school uniform that will be purchased with your generosity. You will not later encounter the young girl who received a dream come true (which is to go to school for these kids) at your doorstep crying because she swallowed pills and now needs your help. What you will have instead is the knowledge that your hand has been a part of something outside of yourself, and although from afar, you have made something possible that otherwise would not have been.

These are the lives of children who, as they walk to school and look back seeing the tracks their shoes make in the dust know they are not alone and whose weight of their backpack tells them someone cares. If you let the heart strings attach you will understand that your name will secretly be written on the tag of the uniform one of these kids will proudly wear to school, but even more than that… that what you have done unto the very least of these you have done unto the father.

Many of these kids will continue to be discipled and taught and most importantly LOVED in our home throughout the coming year and we implore you to please be a part of it with us. A passage to consider;

“And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; ‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was in prison and you came to Me’”. “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the lease of these My brethren, you did it to Me”. Matt 25: 33-36, 40.

Amen.

Alex.

SLAVE IN CHRIST BUT FREE

Regards to all those who have been freed by the power of the precious blood of Christ, I say to all of you who are fighting the battle of faith that you are not alone.  We have been bought by the great love of Jesus Christ and although that means we are slaves, we are free.  1 Corinthians 7:23 tells us that we were bought with a price, do not make slaves of men.  This reminded me of the impact of testimony one of my brother in the faith shared with me recently.

This brother was sold by his mother when he was just 3 months of age from the breast of his mother to go to another country.  The person who bought him treated him ruthlessly, as a slave, and took advantage of the economic activity.  He recalls that when he awoke she threw a bucket of water over him even as he was still 6 years of age.  He told me with much pain that when he was a man he had to change his name to forget some of the past he had lived.  Do you know what he is called now?  He is called Cayro which means “all the time with God”, and now is a pastor with much spiritual blessing and is being used by God in all His might.

He was purchased by Christ to be freed from his oppressors and the devil and is now used by Christ as a honorable vase.  My brethren,  I say that unfortunately many of us have neglected our spiritual vision and have become slaves to the ways of the world and I want to remind you that the world will soon pass and all its desire, but God’s will last forever.  If we are slaves to the world continue to look to the great supernatural power of Christ and see how happy you will be under the protective hand of our great master Jesus Christ.  God bless you and keep you for forever, amen.

Alex.
